A native of Santa Fe, New
Mexico, Felicia Noelle Trujillo (Tru hi' o) was born with
an unnoticed spinal defect called spina
bifida occulta. Her mother,
internationally published children's author Clare T.
Newberry, began teaching her daughter yoga from age five.
Her mother also explored chiropractic work and massage
therapy for her own sciatica and saw that Felicia's
posture improved with similar sessions. Felicia was fascinated by the world of physiotherapy and began her training in massage therapy and naturopathy as a teenager and was subsequently certified in both modalities. During the 1970's, Felicia trained as a Patient Advocate at UC Medical Center/ San Francisco General where she also provided health education and medical illustration for the San Francisco clinical system. Felicia first met Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais in 1975, and through private lessons with him and his associates was able to avoid surgery for TMJ. Felicia began to realize her dream of becoming a dancer, until she suffered injuries in a car accident three years later. Normal medical options had nothing to offer for the whiplash and injuries. Instead, Felicia began training with Dr. Feldenkrais, graduating in Israel, 1983. In 1984 Felicia began to synthesize a new approach to Feldenkrais® movement which she calls babymoves™ which kept her amazingly mobile and pain free. As a teacher in international Feldenkrais® Training Programs, Felicia has taught in the US, New Zealand, and Australia and has been featured in articles in all three countries. She provides Continuing Education Classes for medical professionals, Advanced Training for Feldenkrais® Practitioners, and popular workshops for the public. Felicia teaches a full spectrum of private students, from athletes, dancers, musicians, and martial artists to patients diagnosed with a variety of movement problems. Her specialty is teaching the "neural language" of Feldenkrais® for the relief of the full range of back problems. Felicia began some of the first classes taught to children from ages 6 to young adults of 16 in 1985. Parents and teachers discovered that encouraging children to do babymoves™ has been found to improve posture, self-image, and to help children access relaxation in times of stress and transition. Felicia
also provides seminars for parents and professionals to
address movement development for infants and children.
Scholarships are available for parents who wish to learn babymoves™
to work with their own children.
